Triple play over the air
Globtel presents „air“: a digital wireless triple-play network
- Digital-TV, Broadband-Internet and VoIP-telephony from one source
- High-Speed Internet: Download speeds over 51 Mb per second
- More than 150 digital TV programs
- Low-cost IP-Telephony in ISDN quality with additional features
- Low network investment cost
- Wireless transmission: one air base-station covers an area of at least 15 km
Hanover, March 2007 – Triple-Play is a clear trend in the Telecommunications field today. The Slovenian company Globtel is offering a unique innovative solution with their air wireless network. The integrated network allows wireless transmission of digital TV, broadband internet and Voice over IP (VoIP) telephony services, providing all the services using a single infrastructure.
For providers with existing telecommunications networks, air offers an opportunity to expand the services, either by increasing coverage, or introducing additional services. In addition, air makes it possible to build a new network fast and cost efficient. Due to the easy-to-setup wireless infrastructure, air has the potential to provide Triple-Play services to rural and scarcely populated areas. air is also ideal for setting up a broadband network in countries or areas with low or non-existent telecommunications infrastructure.
Providers using air benefit in several areas:
- Because no cables are used, the network can be set up quickly, without major construction work
- Low upkeep due to fully remote administration
- The cost, compared to similar broadband technologies, is extraordinarily low: according to an Arthur D. Little study (2006), the investment for providing digital TV and broadband internet to 20.000 households is over 50% lower than competing technologies
The end users benefit from a new, high quality technology, available to everybody within visual range. airTV offers up to 100 TV channels in DVD quality, including the possibility of broadcasting in High Definition TV. airIP stands for broadband internet, while airTEL represents low-cost IP telephony, including fax services.
